If you dream of greenery and sea air, the Isla Pancha Lighthouse, located in the Ria de Ribadeo in Spain, is for you. In an environment where land and sea meet, you can spend a few nights in this spectacular place, full of romance and inspiration. It is a former lighthouse keeper’s house which is, today, an unmissable and unique place. It is the only lighthouse in Spain refurbished for tourist accommodation. An opportunity made possible thanks to the work of the PF1 interiorismo studio.

I – A soothing outdoor environment

Built in 1857 to guide sailors, the Isla Pancha lighthouse is a square-shaped building in the natural bay of the Ria de Ribadeo, a few kilometers from the town center.

In service until 1983, the lighthouse was then closed for safety reasons. It is now replaced by a classic lighthouse, a tower with black and white stripes. The director of the Eirobra hotel chain, José Luis López Braña, wanted to turn the place into a tourist facility. He called on a design studio, PF1 interiorismo.

“When the owner commissioned the project from us, the first thing that came to mind was: the life of the lighthouse keeper. We therefore wanted to respect the very essence of the house and its original elements. The place is now complementary to its external environment: comfortable and soothing”.

Located at the top of a green and isolated hill, this place offers bird watchers all the resources necessary to practice their passion.

II. A relaxing place to live

As always, the premise of the studio, specializing in hospitality, was to respect the existing, take care of the details and preserve the original elements, such as the balustrade and the floors. For the interior designer, the important thing is that the client feels at home and can feel the usual warmth and comfort.

In the living room, a contemporary decoration complements the sober and light colors. The herringbone parquet brings a sense of place. The geometric patterned rug gives character to the room.

To optimize space, a table unfolds lengthwise. It allows either to put decorative objects, or to eat comfortably.

Above the sofa, to enlarge the living room, the architect has installed round mirrors. They diffuse the light. Other light points have been integrated: on the ceiling, on the baseboards and under the kitchen worktop. This atmosphere transports visitors to a warm environment.

Central element of the house, the kitchen contrasts with the light colors of the living room. Its black finish and its marbled splash back give a touch of elegance and modernity to the lighthouse. With built-in appliances as well as a minimalist decoration, this kitchen is practical and efficient for a short stay.
